Kyo Karnival

Hurray Kyocera completed 5 years in India :-) and I got a chance to be part of this celebration rightly called 'Kyo Karnival'. Invitation was not just for employees but to their families too. On Saturday and in food court!! Both these odds made us thought it won't be as successful, but were absolutely wrong ... Family attendance made sure it was no less than a true celebration. The day started with welcome kit (containing a hankie, water bottle n few other things) to each member followed by lighting and prayers. The setup was as good as an exhibition with lot of games to play n win chocolates, caricature (I got one for me) and body art / tattoos. An added attraction was RJs of Radio One fame. The day started with lunch (my fav) from Bengaluru famous Adigas and tell u it was a feast man !!! Variety and quality was upto their reputation. To name few the menu included (read in Kannada) holige, paayasa, jolada rotti, ennigai, puliyogare, vangi bath, coconut rice, tomato bath, sambar, majjige, and the last item to end with was a matka kulfi. Lunch was served on a plantain leaf. After lunch I took my wife to show the campus n our working place. By the time sun started sinking, the cheer n celebration started raising. Yes the evening was exclusively for stage show. It started with honoring those employees who have been with Kyocera India since its inception (aptly called the 5 star club). Then with kids exhibiting their talent through singing, dancing and some brain show with rubic cube (or ruby cube?). Next in line was some talent show from our own den in the form of skits, singing, dancing. Among the skits I and mostly everybody liked the one played in true north Karnataka style. Though everybody not followed the language and accent, they really enjoyed every minute of it. The skit was all about birde hunt for a software engineer. In between stage shows came the fire works that made the sky look bright and colorful. Everybody enjoyed it forgetting about air n noise pollution (they really shouldn't be counted at these times). Another eye catching and breath taking performance was 'Yakshagana' show by one of our employee's husband. Then started the show for the mass .... dance n disco !! the stage was all for us. The day wrapped up with dinner and going back home cherising all the fun n celebration each of us n our family had.

All in all ... had a blast on the day :-).

Accident on weekend

.... I am talking about the latest Kannada movie 'Accident' directed by Ramesh Aravind. I watched it on the first day and tell u its a no non-sense, superb thriller movie. I recommend it as 'must watch'. Don't miss it.
Last weekend was a double 'thriller' for me as I got a chance to watch another such movie 'Marma' directed by Sunil kumar Desai (famous for his suspense thrillers). Had heard good reviews about this and was waiting for it, thanks to Udaya movies channel :-)

Team outing @ club cabana !!!

Yupppiiee !!!! The first reaction by all of our team members when we heard 'Outing'. It had been a long time the team had been for an (official) outing, n that too for a full day somewhere totally out of reach from office. After some thoughts, we zeroed on club cabana. Thanks to KWI, I had been to several resorts in and around Bengaluru. But club cabana was the one I hadn't been n wanting to go for since I heard good things about it. We planned and started on time !! had breakfast at Adyar Anand Bhavan. I had idli vada and the taste was good. The hotel as known is very clean too. Had lots of fun on the way to club ... antakshari, jokes, irritating lines / tracks, etc., Finally when we went there n had a look at the facilities, it was really worth going there. I played tennis for the first time in my life and tell u man the tennis racket is too heavy !! Had lot of running more than playing . Then played shuttle cork. Had a try at billiards n it was much better than my first try @ Eagleton. Felt like I can play :-). Played till I got bored n then went for lunch. Lunch was good with variety of items. Post lunch was the main attraction ... bowlingggg !!!!! The game I was waiting for. Was bit now happy when came to know that corporate pacakges allow for only 5 rounds instead of 10 :-(. Nevertheless we had lots of fun playing it and everybody enjoyed it. I came out with highest score :-). At that moment itself some of us decided we will play another round of bowling even if we have to pay for it! Good part of paid game is it gives 10 rounds of play. After that we had water games. Water games were good including waves, lazy river, couple of rides n spa. We then dressed up n had hi tea. In no time after tea we rushed to bowling. After waiting for 20 mins we finally our chance to play 10 rounds. We played it with full josh. And this time again I walked out with highest score :-). It was time to wind up n be back home. We had equally good fun coming back home in the vehicle with the same things ... antakshari, jokes, irritating tracks.All in all a good day to spend outside office. will upload photos soon.

'KWI'NNOVATE

Where : where else .... at KWI (Kyocera Wireless India) campus

WOW !!! This was the first reaction by anyone @ KWI on this day. What a day it had been in the history of KWI ... a first of its kind, the tech fest !! I had read n heard about this in other companies, but probably this happening in our own company made me realize the unexpreessable levels of energy, enthu, creativity, thinking we exhibited. It was truly a memorable day to every employee. We had a lot of programmes on that day including quiz, idea showcase and ending with a well fought debate. The idea showcase was a full day event with each of groups like software, testing, hardware, industrial design, etc., setup a stall to exhibit their ideas. Star attraction of these was ofcourse the biggest of all stalls, the 'Design contest' stall. 'Design contest' was a unique initiative where team comprised from different departments expressed their idea through a concept phone. Believe it or not these concept phones were totally different and I bet you won't find any of such design in the market !! I doubt if anyone have even thought of such phone models. Not just the phone model, but even the software got a face lift right from convinience to luxury. The day turned out to be an idea library all of which if taken to real life will keep us busy for atleast few years.Another good thing to add here .... I participated with my idea in software stall and know what our stall bagged the 1st prize !! hurray !!!!!

"Ethnic" Friday :-)

Soon as you realize today is Friday, the next thing that comes to your mind is weekend, parties, outings, etc., Typical Fridays go leisurely with everybody opting for cool causals, cargos, ...
